Sony FE 50-150 F2 GM - World’s first lens with a maximum focal length of 150mm and F2
Developed for creators who want next-generation versatility and expression, this telephoto zoom is the world’s first with a maximum focal length of 150mm and F2 aperture. Smooth bokeh works with telephoto compression for creative portraits, and the large aperture is ideal for indoor sports and events. All of this plus internal zoom, and a lightweight and robust design.

A breakthrough F2 telephoto zoom for new expression
Developed for creators who want next-generation versatility and expression, this telephoto zoom is the world’s first*1 with a maximum focal length of 150mm and F2 aperture. Smooth bokeh works with telephoto compression for creative portraits, and the large aperture is ideal for indoor events. All of this plus internal zoom in an agile lens that weighs just 1,340 g (47.3 oz), without tripod base.

Resolution that rivals prime lenses
Two precision XA (extreme aspherical) elements in an innovative optical design, plus advanced manufacturing, and carefully controlled aberration, deliver resolution that rivals high-quality prime lenses throughout the image area at all apertures, including F2. This superb lens brings out the best in the latest high-resolution camera bodies.

Outstanding clarity and contrast
Two Super ED (Extra-low Dispersion) and three ED glass elements minimize both longitudinal and lateral chromatic aberration for exceptionally sharp imagery without color bleeding. Contrast and clarity are further enhanced by Nano AR Coating II that effectively suppresses flare and ghosting even when a strong light source appears in the frame.

Exquisite bokeh makes subjects stand out
Several innovations contribute to outstanding resolution and bokeh, including a new 11-blade circular aperture and two precision XA (extreme aspherical) lens elements that effectively suppress onion-ring bokeh. Bokeh is unusually smooth and creamy for a zoom lens. Telephoto compression and shallow depth of field contribute to memorable images.

Get close for stunning detail
With a maximum magnification of 0.2x and minimum focus distances of 0.4 m (1.32 ft) at 50mm and 0.74 m (2.43 in) at 150mm, close-up performance is superb. This lightweight 50-150mm zoom can be used handheld to shoot small items at weddings without having to change lenses. Floating focus ensures excellent sharpness.

Easy, stable handheld shooting
Careful layout and the use of resin barrel parts has resulted in a lens that measures just 102.8 x 200mm (4-1/8 x 7-7/8 in) and weighs just 1,340 g (47.3 oz), without tripod base. That’s small and light enough for smooth handheld shooting. Internal zoom and optimized balance make it ideal for indoor events, without the need for lens changes that can interrupt the flow.

Fast, precise AF and tracking
Four precision XD (extreme dynamic) linear motors drive the focus group for fast, accurate, and quiet focusing that maximizes the AF performance potential of modern camera bodies. Tracking easily keeps up with the 120 fps maximum burst speed of the α9 III and is consistently reliable even while zooming. Perfect for professionals who must get the shot.

Refined expression for movies
The latest lens technology minimizes focus breathing for refined movie imagery. Rack focus and zoom effects can be used with F2 depth of field to create natural transitions that smoothly guide the viewer’s eye. Critical focus for high frame rate 4K 120p/FHD 240p recording is easy, and the entire system operates with minimal noise and vibration.

Smooth operation for movie capture
Linear Response MF ensures that the focus ring responds directly and linearly to subtle control when focusing manually. An internal zoom mechanism minimizes center of gravity shift, so gimbal mounting is easy, and the breathing compensation and Active Mode image stabilization functions provided in compatible α bodies are supported.

Professional control
Operability is enhanced by an aperture ring with click ON/OFF and lock switches, three assignable focus hold buttons, and a DMF switch that enables temporary switchover to manual focus while using AF. Ample clearance is provided for the camera grip. The lens accepts standard 95 mm filters, and the tripod foot has 1/4” and 3/8” screw holes.

Robust and reliable in the field
Buttons and switches sealed with silicone gaskets, a rubber ring that seals the lens mount, an internal zoom mechanism, and other measures prevent the incursion of dust and moisture even in challenging outdoor conditions. The front element features a fluorine coating that repels contaminants and makes the lens easier to clean.
